Mary Bennet has never been the center of attention and rarely the object of any man's affections, but that is about to change. Shortly after Darcy and Elizabeth's wedding, Mary travels to London to prepare for the season, a season she is determined to finish with either a husband or a glorious tale to tell, even if it means learning to tolerate Lord Rycroft.

Lord Samuel Rycroft is not pleased to learn he will be chaperoning his mother and her charge for the season, especially when that charge is Mary Bennet, a young lady whom he has an unfortunate tendency to insult. But when his heart becomes involved, what was to be an arduous task of endurance becomes a quest to earn her approval and acceptance, even if it means giving her no other choice.

No Other Choice A Pride and Prejudice Novella Choices Book 2 edition by Leenie Brown a Lady Literature Fiction eBooks

This was a delightful story about the middle Bennet sister that always seemed to be over looked or was forgotten. This was her story, her time to shine, and her very own HEA.

I really liked how Brown created a parallel to the Darcy / Elizabeth love story. If you looked closely it followed the same pattern. There was the first impression and it was not good as Lord Rycroft tended to insult Mary at every turn. He had a reputation and had to overcome prejudice and pride. He had to earn her forgiveness, clear up his reputation, and earn her love. I adored his mother and how she knew her son and just what he needed in a wife in order to make him happy. She was a joy.

Brown was a master storyteller as she wove a story that was a joy to read. It was also funny as Mary’s father and Darcy were always teasing about using the library if necessary in order to secure a match [reference to first book]. Everyone was totally accepting of Lord Rycroft. The younger Bennet sisters were still a little bit silly at first, but we get to see Kitty beginning to grow out of that. She saw that she needed to not act like Lydia if she wanted to secure a serious match. She also saw that she needed to help Mary as she struggled with her feelings and emotions. Elizabeth was already married, Jane was busy with her own wedding and Mary was simply lost and feeling alone.

The usual cast of characters was present. One thing for sure…Caroline was a pill in the first book and she was a pill in this second book also. She had two friends with her that gave mean girls a run for their money. I am hoping by the end of this series she will be dealt with. Seriously, what is wrong with Bingley that he allows her to give everyone such grief and doesn’t do anything about it? I’ve looked at the reviews for the next book and see that she is still running amuck. I am headed that way next.

No Other Choice A Pride and Prejudice Novella Choices Book 2 edition by Leenie Brown a Lady Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Great Read. I just love Ms. Mary and Rycroft et al. My only problem with this author is all of her stories are a tad "sweet." However, they are so well written and creative that I love them anyway.
I decided to read this even though it was not focused on my favorite couple like most others. I was very pleasantly surprised. I loved the more in depth look at Mary and gaining a better understanding of her. I thought it was very well done and believable. My only complaint is that the book was too short!
I love Leenie Browns books. I just loved Mary in this book. So many of the books portrays Mary as dull and plain. I try to buy all the good books that have Mary in them.
Overall, i enjoyed this book, though not quite as much as the first in the series. Like the first, this is a chaste, sweet story with a little bit of angst, but very low, which is what i like. There were some errors...in one part the wrong character name was used; Brownlow was used when it should have been Blackmore. I had to go back a few pages to make sure I didn't misunderstand that, but it was only for a handful of pages and it certainly didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book.

I really like Mary in this story and it felt like a treat as she is rarely the main character.
I have read the series "Choices". I returned to give this particular book a rating. Mary and Rycroft's story begs to be continued. I enjoyed them so much, I actually looked forward to their references later in the series. I hope once our author gets a chance, she will find a way to tell more of their story. I think this is one of the best series I have ever read.
Second novel in the Choice Series involves Mary Bennet and Darcy's cousin, Lord Rycroft. I have a certain place in my heart or Mary Bennet. Since she was often forgotten in the family being the middle child sandwiched between Lizzy & Jane and then Lydia and Kitty, she took to reading. She had sense but no one paid attention to her.
When Lord Rycroft's mother decided to host Mary for a season, she was thrown in the path of Lord Rycraft due to his mother's insight. Lady Sophia thought they would make a good pair and indeed they did.
It is another story of love, compromise and sweet. She did keep him in line and he enjoyed it not letting her know it!.
I am enjoying this series (Choices). The novellas don't give a lot of time for situation development and that has its pros and cons. A lot of Mary and Rycroft's story happened in book 1 of the series and only needed the circumstances that led to their attachment to one another. How does Mary fall in love with a viscount who has the reputation of a rake. I love books that also develop good lives for the younger Bennet sisters. I want to believe that had Jane lived, she would have written more about the sisters and extended families. These short reads are perfect for busy schedules and they warm the heart. Anytime you need a bit of a pick me up, just do a quick read of these and on your go. Some day Lennie may want to take time to do as others have done and combine all the Choices novellas into one novel with expanded circumstances and characters. Jane's story left us wondering about Richard, Charlotte, Anne, Caroline and of course the other 3 Bennet sisters.

Thank you Lennie for giving us these sweet stories of the characters we love. I enjoy thinking outside of the box with these wonderful characters.
