I loved the Blade.... So The Shield seemed to be a natural follow-up
WOW... Even better than the first book!!! I can't wait for the next book with Maxine Decker as the main character!
I thought it was one of the best in the series. Well written.
I love their writing style and structure, and the out-of-the-ordinary imagination behind their books. I'm sorry I'm finished; can't wait for their next masterpiece!
I'm a long time fan of Sholes and Moore. I read every one of the books in the Cotten Stone series as well as the single book, The Phoenix Apostles. When The Blade came out, I got it right away. I was disappointed that Cotten wasn't back in the story, but found I really liked Maxine Decker. The Shield also features Max as the main character and she is definitely growing on me, just like Cotten Stone did. I hope more people will discover this writing team. All their stories are great and on the edge.
"Trust no one!" In this page turner, couldn't wait to see what happened next, book nothing is more true than Chaucer's admonition. Sholes and Moore have done an exquisite job drawing you in and keeping you riveted with suspense. I particularly love the research done in all of their books making the basis of the books intriguing and this one doesn't disappoint. Their best book yet.
The Shield is the type of book that grabs your attention in the first few pages and never lets it go. I could not put this book down-I kept saying to myself, "one more chapter". But of course the end of each chapter had me dying to know what else was going to happen! I have read everything by these authors, and get so excited when they release a new book. Their books are fast paced and I get disappointed when I get to the end and the book is over.
I found out about Lynn Sholes because the first book in this series The Blade sounded good and both these books are very entertaining. I would recommend reading the Blalde first because then you get a better introduction to the two main characters. Lots of action in these books plus I love books where the main characters get into situations that you wonder, how will they get out of this mess now. Neither book is really deep but they sure are entertaining and have the type of characters you cheer for.
